William & Mary Athletics honored a record-high 231 student-athletes as winners of the Provost Award on Friday, after a strong year of academic achievement.  The Provost Award program began in 2003-04, and recognizes athletes who maintain over a 3.5 GPA.  The previous high number of award-winners came in 2018-19, when 163 student-athletes were honored.
 
A total of 18 teams (the cross country/track & field programs combined as one each) had at least five athletes honored, led by 23 each for the women's soccer and lacrosse teams.  The women's (22) and men's (20) cross country and track & field teams each also surpassed a total of 20 honorees.  14 teams set program highs for honorees, including baseball, women's basketball, football, men's and women's golf, men's gymnastics, lacrosse, men's and women's soccer, men's and women's swimming, men's tennis, men's cross country and track & field, and volleyball.
