BALTIMORE — William & Mary swimming kicked off its season at the UMBC Tri-Meet on Saturday afternoon at the UMBC Aquatic Center with a pair of victories by the women's team, who took down UMBC 203-90 and defeated Navy 169-124. The men's team dropped both decisions to the Terriers and Midshipmen.
The Tribe set a pool record in the 200 medley relay with a time of 1:43.61.
Julie Addison,
Lindsay Juhlin,
Sophia Heilen, and
Caroline Burgeson teamed up to break the previous facility record by 0.19 seconds.
In total, the Tribe had 13 event victories, all on the women's side.
Individually,
Lauren Tucker secured a win in the 1000 free with a time of 10:25.94. Tucker also posted the fastest time in the 500 free at 5:03.50.
Freshman
Haley Lehman won her first collegiate event with her performance in the 200 free at 1:54.24. Fellow freshman
Sammy Randell placed first in the 200 fly at 2:05.97.
Other event victories included Addison in the 100 back (56.00) and 200 back (2:02.54), Juhlin in the 100 breast (1:04.45) and 100 fly (56.64), and Burgeson in the 50 free (24.10).
W&M's 400 free relay team of
Healey Morgan,
Flynn Truskett, Lehman, and Burgeson won the event with their time of 3:31.11.
Truskett also captured a win in the 100 free, posting a time of 52.42. Elsewhere, Heilen posted the fastest time in the 200 breast at 2:20.03.
Brock Rempe posted a second-place finish in the 100 breast for the men, clocking in at 57.10.
