On football game days,
designated parking areas are operated by the Department of Athletics to facilitate attendance at games. On game days for other sports, parking areas convenient to the applicable facilities will be designated for uses permitted under this policy.
Access
A valid parking pass obtained from the Department of Athletics is required for access to reserved parking areas. Purchase of general admission parking using the Passport Parking App is required for access to the Kaplan Arena lot.
How to Pay for Parking (Football)
Requests to accommodate groups of 50 or more should be directed to the Tribe Ticket Office at (757) 221-3340.
Time
All designated parking areas open for the uses permitted under this policy four hours before the official beginning of the event. All usage permitted under this policy must end three hours after the end of the event. Parking may occur in the designated locations outside of these times.Â
Permitted Activities
Access to the designated parking areas during the times identified above includes the ability to park in a designated space and to engage in the following activities in that parking space under the conditions specified:
Erection of a tent so long as the fire rating certificate is displayed and the location of the tent does not block roadways or sidewalks or pedestrian walkways. Â Any tent that is 900 square feet or greater, expected to hold 50 people or more or placed within 20 feet of a building must be approved by W&M Facilities Management. Approval requests may be made by calling (757) 221-3340.Â
Use of a gas or charcoal grill so long as the grill has a lid and is not placed underneath a tent. A fire extinguisher must be present. When the space is unattended, the grill must be turned off or the coals extinguished using an ash bucket and water.
Prohibited Activities
For safety reasons, the following conduct is prohibited in the designated parking areas:
* Use of an open flame, including a fire pitÂ
* Use of glass bottles
* Throwing of objects, including footballs and Frisbees
* Blocking roadways or sidewalks
* Attendance by animals other than service animals
* Underage consumption of alcohol                  Â
* Use of bikes, scooters, skateboards or rollerblades
* Use of drones or unmanned aircraft systems
* Use of household furniture, including sofas, loveseats, and reclining chairs
In addition to the guidelines set forth above, the use of designated parking areas must comply with the university's policy on
use of campus facilities and property.
