Through his four years on the W&M baseball team, Greg Sexton embodied the ideals of hard work and consistency as the hallmarks of a successful career.  A consensus All-American in 2007, he went on to a seven-year career in the minor leagues with the Tampa Bay Rays.

Sexton was a rookie starter on W&M's 2004 team that won a then-record 37 games, earning Freshman All-America honors from Collegiate Baseball News.  He hit .356 that year with 24 doubles and 53 RBI.  As a sophomore, Sexton's worst year was one that most players would aspire to as a career-high, hitting .316 with 10 more doubles.

He then launched into the stratosphere over the 2006 and 2007 seasons, improving from .391 as a junior to .455 as a senior.  He totaled 37 doubles in that span, and 16 home runs to help produce 119 RBI in just two seasons.  His senior year record of 95 hits on a .455 hitting percentage were both school records, with his average still ranking as the all-time mark.  That batting average was the second-highest in the NCAA that year.  After earning second-team all-state honors in 2006, Sexton was named first-team All-State and all-conference as a senior to go along with CAA Players of the Year honors and five All-American honors.  He would go on to be drafted in the 10th round of the Major League Baseball draft by the Tampa Bay Rays, the first pick of the round, and reached as high as AA in a minor league career that lasted until 2013.

Sexton still ranks as the school record-holder in hits (313) and doubles (71), while ranking second in career batting average (.380).  He also finished his four years with 186 runs scored, six triples, 23 home runs, and 199 RBI.
