Despite only competing as part of the Colonial Athletic Association in the final two years of her career, she was selected as one of the top 25 women's golfers in the league's history during its 25th Anniversary Celebration.  Schnell is the only Tribe golfer to earn multiple First-Team All-CAA honors by earning the distinction in both the 2003 and 2004 seasons, posting top five finishes at the CAA Championship event after both her junior and senior years.

She graduated as the school's all-time leader in career average (79.34), career wins in head-to-head competition (2,795), career rounds player (109) and single-season wins (838 – set after breaking her own record of the previous year, 729). Her career winning percentage of .704 was the second-best average in school history upon her graduation (and still remains third).  More than just an outstanding athlete, Schnell was also named as the 2003 CAA Women's Golf Scholar-Athlete of the Year.
