Gibby, who had a fairly successful career as a runner at W&M, truly came into his own as the Tribe's men's cross country coach from 2003-10.  He led the Green and Gold to seven-straight CAA Championships and seven NCAA bids, finishing eighth in the nation in 2006 and fifth in 2009 which was the second-highest finish in school history, behind only a No. 4 showing in 1973.  Gibby's teams also provided six All-American honors in cross country, and won three of the 11 total Southeast Region Championships in program history.  It was not just the best runners who succeeded under Gibby's tutelage, but also the lower tiers, as the Tribe's "B" team won the IC4A Championship in 2006.  Gibby also played a big part in W&M's success on the track as the middle-distance and distance coach, helping win the CAA title in 2004.  His athletes won six IC4A titles and three All-America awards, and six went on to run for Team USA.  That included W&M Hall-of-Famer Ed Moran '03, MPP '05, MBA '08; who won the 2007 Pan-Am Games 5,000m in a meet-record time.  In total, Gibby's athletes won six CAA Athletes of the Year and seven CAA Rookies of the Year, as well as 28 individual CAA titles.
