WILLIAMSBURG, Va. – There's no place like home for the Tribe. Especially when it comes to notching a few new additions to the program record book.
Hosting Saturday's home opener, the Dan Stimson Memorial, a handful of Green and Gold athletes added new names and entries to W&M's history—a fitting tribute to the first-ever Tribe Director of Track & Field whose name and legacy the meet honors.
Freshman
Jason Nwosu got things started in the opening event of the day, taking first in the shot put at 16.81m. The PR performance moved him into No. 7 on the Tribe's all-time performers list in the event.
Meanwhile, on the track, senior
Daniel Layton added his own impressive showing in the 110m hurdles. Crossing the finish line in 14.71, Layton notched a PR that moved him into the top-5 on the event's all-time performers list.
Gabriel Albers' time of 15.46 also saw him crack the all-time performers list. Then, in the 100m,
Jackson Cooley's PR of 10.65 in the 100m was among the fastest ever by a W&M athlete.
