Three Tribe student-athletes will compete in the national meet against many of the nation's top under-20 athletes. Freshman Amelia Bawcombe will compete in the women's hammer throw, freshman Kennedy Reynolds in the women's 400m hurdles and freshman Finn Middleton in the men's 110m hurdles.
As of June 11, Bawcombe is scheduled to compete in the women's hammer throw final on Friday at 9:30 a.m. Reynolds is slated to race in the women's 400m hurdles first round on Thursday at 1 p.m., with the event final scheduled for Friday at 4:41 p.m. should she advance. Middleton is scheduled to compete in the men's 110m hurdles first round on Friday at 4:23 p.m., with the championship final slated for 5:20 p.m. if he advances.
Bawcombe enters the championship following one of the top freshman seasons in William & Mary history. The CAA hammer throw champion reset the program freshman record with a mark of 62.26m (204-3) at the CAA Outdoor Championships and later placed 16th at the NCAA Division I East First Round. She finished the season ranked No. 2 on William & Mary's all-time performers list in the hammer throw.
Reynolds enjoyed a breakthrough freshman campaign in the 400m hurdles, becoming the first woman in program history to break the one-minute barrier in the event. She established a school-record time of 59.26 at the Duke Twilight before earning runner-up honors at the CAA Outdoor Championships with a time of 59.49. Reynolds was named Co-CAA Women's Track Athlete of the Week following her record-breaking performance in Durham.
Middleton emerged as one of the Tribe's top young sprinters and hurdlers during the outdoor season. The freshman posted the second-fastest 110m hurdles time in program history with a 14.02 time in the prelims at the CAA Outdoor Championships before recording the eighth-fastest mark in school history with a 14.32 in the finals.
