LEXINGTON, Ky. — William & Mary track & field continued competition at the 2026 NCAA Division I Outdoor Track & Field East First Round on Thursday at the UK Track & Field Complex.
Freshman Amelia Bawcombe represented the Tribe in the women's hammer throw first round earlier in the day, finishing 16th overall with a mark of 60.98m (200-1). Competing against one of the top regional fields in the country, Bawcombe narrowly missed a spot among the top 12 qualifiers who advanced to the NCAA Outdoor Championships in Eugene, Ore.
Bawcombe entered the NCAA East First Round ranked 19th in the East Region after capturing the CAA title in the hammer throw earlier this month and resetting the William & Mary freshman record in the event.
Later Thursday evening, junior Elizabeth Strobach competed in the women's pole vault first round and cleared 3.92m (12-10¼). Strobach entered the NCAA East First Round coming off a record-breaking performance at the CAA Outdoor Championships, where she won the conference title while breaking both the William & Mary and CAA Championship records with a clearance of 4.28m (14-0.50).
William & Mary wraps up competition at the NCAA East First Round on Friday with freshman Uriah Harris competing in the men's discus first round at 1 p.m. and senior Jonathan Kumer racing in the men's 800m quarterfinal at 7:05 p.m. The top 12 finishers in each event advance to the NCAA Outdoor Championships in Eugene, Ore.
