WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. – A couple of the all-time best.
Competing in Friday's Wake Forest Invitational, William & Mary saw its record books grow once again as several athletes posted historic performances.
In the 400m hurdles, senior
Daniel Layton took first place with a time of 54.02, a run that moves him into No. 9 on the Tribe's all-time performers list. Then, in the 1,500m Invitational,
Jacob Jones crossed the finish line in 3:43.74 to finish in 17
th. The time moves him into No. 9 on W&M's all-time performers list.
And on the field side of things, freshman
Ross Bazzichi moved into No. 16 on the Tribe's all-time performers list in the hammer throw and took seventh place in the event at 50.19m (164-8).
100m Hurdles
Lyaton ran a 14.88, to finish fourth.
800m
Stephen Larson finished 10
th, crossing the finish line in 1:51.99.
Matthias Oettl was 19
th and
Jonathan Kumer was 21
st.
1,500m
Sam Pritchard took seventh with a time of 3:48.67.
Andrew Lagattuta was 11
th (3:49.95),
Evan Goodell was 14
th (3:50.12), and
Brendan DiStefano was 19
th (3:53.03).
10,000m
Nate Jennings finished 12th.
Long Jump
Ethan Buenviaje finished fifth at 6.93m (22-9), while
Cole Harris was ninth.
Pole Vault
J.P. Mintz captured third at 4.45m (14-7.25).
Hammer Throw
Jason Nwosu finished in 11
th.
Discus
Nwosu and Bazzichi both recorded strong showings in the event, with Nwosu taking 12
th at 45.23 (148-4), while Bazzichi was 14
th.
Shotput
Nwosu was fourth at 16.48m (54-1) and Bazzichi was eighth at 14.04m (46-0.75).
