WILLIAMSBURG, Va. – No such thing as freshman nerves. At least not for
Jason Nwosu.
Competing in his first-ever Colonial Relays, the Tribe's first-year standout wrapped up his weekend with a pair of strong showings—taking third in the shot put invitational at 15.51m (50-10.7) and fourth in the discus invitational at 45.59m (149-07.5).
The performances highlighted a solid Saturday and even better weekend for William & Mary as the squad finished sixth out of 38 teams, with 48 points. Columbia was first with 107 points, Bucknell was second (81) and Brown took third (76).
In an event full of history—the weekend marked its 57
th iteration—and tradition, the Green and Gold added a bit more to its record books on the final day. The quartet of
Daniel Layton,
Cole Harris,
J.P. Mintz, and
Ethan Buenviaje ran a 1:31.56 in the 4x200 relay, the ninth-fastest time in W&M lore.
And, in the 4x1500 relay,
Jacob Jones,
Luke Henkel,
T.J. Corliss,
Evan Goodell, posted a time of 15:59.67 to capture third place.
The Tribe also took time during the day to honor 17 seniors for their accomplishments and dedication to the men's and women's track & field and cross country program.
110m Hurdles
Layton notched a sixth-place finish with a time of 14.89, while
Gabriel Albers was 17
th at 15.88.
800m
Jonathan Kumer ran a 1:55.45 to take 15
th place.
Shot Put Invitational
Ross Bazzichi also recorded a top-10 performance for the Tribe, finishing in ninth at 13.68m (44-10.7).
