EUGENE, Ore. — William & Mary track & field wrapped up competition at the 2026 USATF U20 Outdoor Championships at Hayward Field, highlighted by a top-five finish from freshman Amelia Bawcombe in the women's hammer throw.

Freshman Kennedy Reynolds opened competition for the Tribe on Thursday in the women's 400m hurdles preliminaries, finishing 12th overall in a time of 1:00.52. Reynolds, who owns the William & Mary school record in the event, recorded the fifth-fastest performance in program history and the fourth-fastest time of her career.

Reynolds capped a breakthrough freshman campaign that included a school-record time of 59.26 at the Duke Twilight, becoming the first woman in program history to break the one-minute barrier in the 400m hurdles. She earned Co-CAA Women's Track Athlete of the Week honors following the performance and later finished runner-up in the event at the CAA Outdoor Championships with a time of 59.49.

On Friday, freshman Finn Middleton was scheduled to compete in the men's 110m hurdles preliminaries but did not start.

Middleton concluded a strong freshman season that saw him move into William & Mary's all-time top 10 in both the 110m hurdles and 100m. At the CAA Outdoor Championships, he posted a 14.02 in the 110m hurdles prelims, the second-fastest time in program history, before clocking 14.32 in the final to place seventh.

Later Friday, Bawcombe turned in the Tribe's top finish of the championship, placing fifth in the women's hammer throw with a mark of 59.82m (196-3). The CAA champion and William & Mary freshman record holder secured a top-five finish in a field that featured several of the nation's top under-20 throwers.

Bawcombe closed a stellar freshman campaign that included a CAA title in the hammer throw, a William & Mary freshman-record mark of 62.26m (204-3) and a 16th-place finish at the NCAA Division I East First Round. She finished the season ranked No. 2 on William & Mary's all-time performers list in the hammer throw.

The USATF U20 Outdoor Championships marked the final competition of the 2026 outdoor season for William & Mary track & field student-athletes.
