UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. – Seeing double! Following an opening day that was chock-full of PRs and history-making performances, the William & Mary women's indoor track and field team followed up on Saturday with a pair of dominant 200m runs from
Amaya Johnson and
Emily Ervin at the Penn State National.
Johnson got things started, placing in fifth and posting a time of 24.63—a brand-new PR and second place on the Tribe's all-time performers list. And then, Ervin ran. Competing in the invitational final, Ervin's fourth-place finish in 24.48 was also a PR and the second-fastest time by a W&M athlete.
Ervin now sits second on the all-time performers list, while Johnson is third.
In a stacked field, which boasted athletes from over 30 schools, the Tribe had a fantastic two-day stretch. Overall, six W&M athletes recorded PRs, while multiple events saw new additions to their all-time performers list.
400m
Carly Swierbut finished 15
th for the Green and Gold, recording a time of 57.94. In the invitational final,
Lizzy Gregory placed 12
th with a 58.66.
Distance Medley
The squad of
Sofia Istnick,
Makenzie Joiner,
Caroline Jones, and
Arianna DeBoer crossed the finish line in 11:54.25, earning a 5
th-place finish.
4x400 Relay
Amaya Johnson,
Lizzy Gregory,
Carly Swierbut, and
Emily Ervin finished seventh in 3:47.76. The performance is the 11
th fastest in W&M history.
Shot Put
Fresh off Friday's PR performance in the weight throw,
Keeley Suzenski recorded yet another solid showing in the shot put, placing fourth at 15.08m (49-5.75). The performance now sits fourth all-time in Tribe history and Suzenski owns the top-7 program performances in the event.
