CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. — William & Mary track & field wrapped up competition at the Virginia Challenge, April 16–18, highlighted by a freshman record, multiple program top-10 marks, and several strong finishes across three days at Lannigan Field.
Amelia Bawcombe headlined the weekend for the Tribe in the women's hammer throw, placing sixth with a mark of 57.90 meters (189-11). The freshman broke her own school freshman record, improving on the 57.27-meter throw she set earlier this season. Bawcombe remains No. 3 all-time in program history while recording a new personal best.
On the track, Kennedy Reynolds delivered a standout performance in the women's 400-meter hurdles, finishing fifth in 1:00.18. The freshman improved her position as the No. 2 performer in program history, recording the second-fastest time all-time at William & Mary.
Tia Taylor added to the Tribe's strong showing on Saturday in the women's 100-meter hurdles, clocking 14.14 in the finals. The mark ranks sixth all-time in program history and stands as her third-best career time. Taylor also owns the third- and fourth-fastest performances in school history in the event.
In the field events, Kalli Knott tied for fourth in the women's pole vault, clearing 3.75 meters (12-3½), while Taylor added a 14th-place finish in the long jump at 5.94 meters (19-6).
On the men's side, Leighton McGee turned in a top-10 finish in the pole vault, placing eighth after clearing 4.87 meters (15-11¾). Uriah Harris led the Tribe in the throwing events, finishing 12th in the discus (50.77m, 166-7) and ninth in the shot put (17.74m, 58-2½) on Friday.
Finn Middleton represented the Tribe on the track in the men's 200 meters, placing 23rd in 22.30, while Joel Emmanuel cleared 1.91 meters (6-3¼) in the high jump.
