RICHMOND, Va. — William & Mary swept the Coastal Athletic Association Men's Outdoor Track & Field weekly awards, as freshman Uriah Harris was named CAA Men's Field Athlete of the Week and junior Hayes Trapp earned CAA Men's Track Athlete of the Week honors, the league announced on Tuesday.
Harris collected his third CAA Men's Field Athlete of the Week award of the outdoor season after another standout weekend at the Penn Relays. The freshman placed sixth in the College Men's Shot Put with a mark of 17.11m (56-1¾) before adding another sixth-place finish in the College Men's Discus Championship at 53.52m (175-7) against one of the nation's top collegiate fields at historic Franklin Field.
The honor marks Harris' third conference weekly award this outdoor season after previously earning the distinction on March 17 and March 31. The Richmond, Va., native has continued a breakout freshman campaign, already setting William & Mary outdoor freshman records in both the shot put and discus this spring. Harris currently leads the CAA in both events with a season-best 17.89m (58-8¼) in the shot put and a 55.83m (183-2) mark in the discus.
Trapp secured his first CAA Men's Track Athlete of the Week honor of the outdoor season after continuing his strong spring in the distance events. The junior finished third in the College Men's 10,000m Championship at the Penn Relays with a time of 29:21.52, earning a podium finish in one of the meet's premier races. Earlier this season, Trapp posted a season-best time of 29:12.09 at the Raleigh Relays, the fastest 10,000m mark in the CAA this outdoor season.
