WILLIAMSBURG, Va. - William & Mary cross country returns to action traveling to the Firetower Project Run at State Farm Field in Boone, N.C. on Friday. The men's 8k race kicks off the event at 5 p.m. with the women's 6k to follow at 5:40 p.m.

Joining the Tribe and host App State in the event are The Citadel, Coastal Carolina, Charleston, Erskine, James Madison, Lenoir-Rhyne, Lees-McRae, Savannah College of Art and Design, Radford, and Gardner-Webb.

Tribe News and Notes
- In each of the first two races of the season at the Spider Alumni Open and the Virginia Invitational, the Tribe women's cross country team placed second behind No. 20-ranked Virginia. On the men's side, the Tribe was second at the Spider Alumni Open behind only No. 6-ranked Virginia. At the Virginia Invitational, W&M finished fourth.

- Following each of her first two races, senior
Perry Irons earned CAA Runner of the Week honors on Sept. 2 and Sept. 16. She finished fourth at the Spider Alumni Open and was the event runner-up at the Virginia Invitational. Each race has marked the first time Irons has competed at each distance in her collegiate career.

- All five Tribe women's runners finished in the top 20 at both the Spider Alumni Open and Virginia Invitational. Junior
Jennifer Tsai placed 11th at the Spider Alumni Open and came in 13th in the Virginia Invite. Senior
Kelly Ann Sutterfield was 12th and 18th, respectively, at the events, while freshman
Veronica Znajda placed 18th and 19th. Sophomore
Maddie Gypson was the Tribe's fifth runner at the Spider Alumni Open, placing 15th, while classmate
Molly Weithman was the Tribe's final scoring runner at the Virginia Invite in 20th.

Hayes Trapp and redshirt freshman
Caleb Wilcox have each taken home a CAA runner of the Week award. Most recently, Trapp took home the award after leading the Tribe with a 14th-place finish at the Virginia Invitational. Wilcox topped the Tribe at the Spider Alumni Open, crossing the line in 15th.

- The Tribe women's team were ranked No. 15 in the latest Southeast Region rankings. W&M was ranked as high as No. 14 on Sept. 15.

- For the men, the Tribe produced an impressive spread with its top six runners finishing within less than five seconds of one another at the Spider Alumni Open. Â Senior
Luke Ellwood and redshirt freshman
Collin Walsh were the Tribe's second and third runners in 16th and 17th, respectively, at the Spider Alumni Open. Walsh finished closely behind Trapp at the Virginia Invitational in 15th place.
