PRINCETON, N.J. - William & Mary cross country turned in strong results against a loaded field at the Princeton Fall Classic on Friday.
Senior
Perry Irons continued her impressive fall season, earning a top-10 showing to lead the charge on the women's side. Junior
Hayes Trapp raced to a 14th-place finish to lead the men.
As a team, the Tribe women's program finished 12th in a 25-team field that featured 18 regionally-ranked teams. W&M, which is ranked No. 15 in the Southeast Region, topped six regionally-ranked teams, including Maryland (No. 8 Mid-Atlantic), La Salle (No. 12 Mid-Atlantic), Dartmouth (No. 15 Northeast), Lehigh (No. 13 Mid-Atlantic), Rutgers (No. 15 Mid-Atlantic), and Syracuse (No. 3 Northeast).
On the men's side, the Tribe finished 19th in a 31-team field that included three nationally-ranked teams and 23 regionally-ranked foes. The Green and Gold finished ahead of five regionally-ranked teams, including defending CAA Champion Stony Brook (No. 11 Northeast). The Tribe also topped App State (No. 14 Southeast), La Salle (No. 15 Mid-Atlantic), Lehigh (No. 14 Mid-Atlantic), and UMass (No. 14 Northeast).
Irons turned in an impressive time of 20:10.7 to finish eighth in the 270-runner field. Her time was the fastest in a 6K for a Tribe runner since Emily Stites at the 2015 CAA Championship (20:00.2).
Sophomore
Molly Weithman and senior
Kelly Ann Sutterfield both earned top-80 finishes with career-best 6K times. Weithman was 68th in a time of 21:17.8, while Sutterfield took 76th in a time of 21:21.9.
Freshman
Veronica Znajda and sophomore
Abby Lane rounded out the Tribe's scoring group, placing 116th (21:45.4) and 129th (21:50.3), respectively.
Boise State won the women's 6K as a team, edging Princeton, 55-57. Penn was third (131) followed by Yale (139) and UConn (141).
Trapp covered the 8K course in a time of 23:25.0, which was his career-best 8K time. It was the fastest 8K time for a Tribe runner in over 15 years.

Collin Walsh finished in the top-100, coming in 86th in a time of 24:19.6.

Peyton Golden (24:46.0) rounded out the Tribe's scoring group in 110th, 123rd, and 142nd, respectively.
No. 20 Princeton won the men's race with 55 points followed by Oklahoma (68), No. 29 Boise State (138), Penn State (199) and Utah Valley (219).
The Tribe kicks off the championship season when it travels to Lakewood, N.J. and Ocean County Park to compete in the 2025 CAA Championships on Friday, Oct. 31.
