FAIRFAX, Va. — Another one.
In a year that has seen him rack up impressive performances — both for Tribe cross country and track & field —
Jacob Jones notched another strong showing in the 1,500m at Saturday's IC4A championship. Running at George Mason University, Jones clinched All-East honors and a third-place finish after posting a time of 3:44.13. The time was just off his personal best at W&M, which he set at the Wake Forest Invitational last month.
Jones was joined in the race by a quartet of teammates who all posted their own solid performances.
Evan Goodell was 12
th in 3:50.13, while
Andrew Lagattuta was 22nd in 3:53.38.
Brendan DiStefano (3:55.14) finished in 28
th and
T.J. Corliss (3:56.63) was 30
h.
And while Jones led the way for the Tribe in Saturday's finals, two other W&M athletes stood out in their prelims. In the 100m,
Jackson Cooley took first with a time of 10.62. It's the eighth-fastest time in Tribe history, and Cooley now owns six of the top-10 marks.
Daniel Layton will also run on Sunday after finishing third (14.75) in the 110m hurdles.
As a team, with 12 of 23 events scored, William & Mary sits tied for 20
th with six points. Army is first with 82, Navy (80.5
) second, and George Mason third (40.5
).
800m
Sam Pritchard led the way for W&M, placing 15
th in 1:52.53.
Jonathan Kumer ran a 1:54.13 to take 25
th and
Stephen Larson was 30
th in 1:55.26.
Long Jump
Ethan Buenviaje was 20
th at 6.51m (21-04.25).
Shot Put
Jason Nwosu competed in his first IC4A, recording a throw of 12.78m (41-11.25).
