Cunningham, Kessler Make W&M History at Darius Dixon Memorial Invitational

LYNCHBURG, Va. – Sprintin' into the record books!

At Liberty University's Darius Dixon Memorial Invitational on Friday, Melissa Cunningham and Anna Kessler cemented their names in William & Mary lore, running the two fastest 60m times in program history. Cunningham crossed the finish line in 7.68, while Kessler recorded a time of 7.69 — eclipsing the previous Tribe record of 7.72, which was set by Chelsea Mitchell at the same event last year.

Cunningham has been closing in on the record for weeks. In her last two meets for the Tribe, the sophomore posted times of 7.73.

The fleet-footed duo wasn't the only adding to the Tribe's history books, either. Olesya Sitkowski moved into fourth on the all-time W&M indoor pole vault performers list, posting a 3.91m (12-10.0). The feat also moves Sitkowski into a tie for 10th place on the all-time performances list.

Pole Vault Open
Elizabeth Upright finished in 11th place at 3.50m (11-05.75). Sophie Fernandez was part of a three-way tie for 12th at 3.35m (10-11.75), while Fiona Basewitz tied for 15th at 3.15m (10-04.00)

Weight Throw
Ella Carlson continued her string of solid performances in the event, placing 20th at 14.51m (47-07.25)

Long Jump
Megan Heidebrecht finished 14th at 5.50m (18-0.5), while Dana Abraham was 49th.

60m
In addition to Cunningham and Kessler's historic runs, Amaya Johnson also notched her own strong performance with a prelim time of 7.95, while Charlotte Robinson finished in 8.17.

60m Hurdles
Fresh off a performance that saw her crack the all-time performers list last weekend, Clare Howard recorded a new PR and crossed the finish line in 9.49.

400m
Emily Ervin paced a strong Tribe squad, crossing the finish line in third with a time of 56.25—the tenth fastest in W&M history. Lizzy Gregory wasn't far behind in fifth (56.41), the 16th fastest time in Green and Gold history, while Carly Swierbut placed 21st and Clare Howard was 46th.

800m
Arianna DeBoer notched an 18th-place finish in 2:15.38, moving into 16th on the Tribe's all-time performers list, while Molly Coyle was 30th in 2:18.15.

3000m
Sofia Istnick finished 10th with a time of 9:46.36, while Catherine Garrison notched a 13th-place finish in 9:52.00. Kelly Ann Sutterfield was 26th, Annie Wicker was 35th and Tessa Dobrinski was 48th.
