NEWPORT NEWS, Va. and FAIRFAX, Va. – The William & Mary men's track and field team split two ways, concluding the New Captains Classic & Combined Events hosted by Christopher Newport and the Mason Spring Invitational hosted by George Mason on Saturday.
How It Happened:
New Captains Classic & Combined Events
- Freshman Cole Harris finished second overall in the decathlon with 4,874 points. Harris had a strong performance in the (dec.) 1500-meter, where he finished second overall at 5:07.39.
- In the long jump sophomore, Harrison Duncan placed third with a mark of 6.74 meters, while rookie Jalen Jones finished fourth at 6.64 meters.
- Freshman J.P. Mintz, tied for first in the pole vault with a mark of 4.25m (13-11.5).
Mason Spring Invitational
- In the javelin throw rookie, Chris Arias finished in the top 10 in seventh place with a mark of 58.18 meters.
- In the 100-meter dash sophomore, Jackson Cooley finished third in his heat at 11.12.
- Out of the 60-member entry, sophomore Stephen Larson finished with a top 20 time in the 800-meters in 17th at 1:54.24, while senior Alex Loukili finished with the 19th best time at 1:54.60. Freshman Owen Lipps also recorded a personal best in the event at 1:55.68.
- In the 1500 meter juniors Andrew Lagattuta and Jacob Jones both finished with top 10 times, Lagattuta (8th) at 3:50.87 and Jones in (10th) at 3:51.54.
