The William & Mary women's track & field team wrapped up competition on Sunday at the North Carolina A&T Aggie Twilight Classic, breaking the school record in the 4x400m relay for the second time in two weeks.
- The 4x400m relay team of
Gabby Runge (Midlothian, Va.),
Grace Bir (Falls Church, Va.),
Mary Gregory (Reston, Va.), and
Makenzie Joiner (Mechanicsville, Va.) combined to win the event with a blazing fast time of 3:45.00, shattering the school record of 3:46.84 set two weeks ago at the CAA Championships.
- In the 100m dash, freshman
Chelsea Mitchell (Canton, Conn.) ran 12.24 in the prelims, tied for the 16th-fastest race in school history, and then turned in a nigh-identical 12.26 in the prelims for sixth overall.
- Mitchell also finished fifth in the long jump, with a mark of 5.50m (18-0.5).
- Freshman
Kyra Holland (Warrenton, Va.) took seventh in the 800m run, timing a personal-best 2:14.83.
- In the open 400m, Gregory took 10th overall in 56.15 seconds.
- Redshirt-freshman
Amaya Johnson (Sterling, Va.) rounded out the day for W&M, running 24.91 in the 200m for 16th overall.
William & Mary will now await word on whether any athletes will get selected to the NCAA Eastern Preliminaries, May 27-29 in Jacksonville, Va. The official list of invited athletes will be published on NCAA.com by 1 p.m. on Thursday, May 20.
