Tribe Travels to Wake Forest, Virginia for Weekend Competition

WILLIAMSBURG, Va. — William & Mary track & field will split squads this weekend, with the distance group competing at the Wake Forest Invitational from April 16–17 in Winston-Salem, N.C., while the remainder of the team travels to the Virginia Challenge from April 16–18 in Charlottesville, Va.

The Wake Forest Invitational will feature the Tribe's distance runners across a full slate of events beginning Thursday evening. Competition opens with multiple sections of the 800m, followed by the steeplechase and distance races, including the 5,000m and 10,000m later in the night.

Action continues Friday with distance events highlighted by multiple sections of the 1500m and invitational races in the evening, including the 1500m and 5,000m.

At the Virginia Challenge, William & Mary will compete across three days with entries spanning sprints, hurdles, relays, jumps and throws with Thursday's action beginning with the javelin.

Friday features preliminary rounds on the track, including the 100m and hurdles, along with distance events such as the 1500m and steeplechase. Field events throughout the day include the pole vault, high jump, long jump and shot put.

The meet concludes Saturday with finals on the track, highlighted by the 200m, 400m, 800m and 4x100m relays, in addition to continued field competition in the triple jump, pole vault, high jump and discus.

Tribe News and Notes

- Tia Taylor was named CAA Field Athlete of the Week after breaking the William & Mary school record in the long jump at the Duke Invitational with a mark of 6.08m (19-11.5). She also ran 14.09 in the 100m hurdles, which ranks fourth all-time in program history.

- Kennedy Reynolds recorded a personal-best time of 1:00.61 in the 400m hurdles at Duke, maintaining her position at No. 3 on the program's all-time list.

- Allison McDonald posted a personal-best time of 10:44.53 in the 3,000m steeplechase, moving to No. 6 on the all-time performers list at William & Mary.

- Raiden Lafortune turned in a personal-best throw of 63.46m (208-2) in the javelin, ranking No. 9 on the program's all-time performers list.

- Elaina Perkins added a season-best mark of 43.72m (143-5) in the javelin, which ranks No. 8 all-time at William & Mary.

Brendan DiStefano recorded a personal-best time of 3:49.23 in the 1500m, while Jonathan Kumer posted a sixth-place finish in the 800m at Duke.

- In the field events, Kerrigan Kimener recorded a personal-best clearance of 3.78m (12-4¾) in the pole vault, while Devin Roose posted a personal-best mark of 7.05m (23-1¾) in the long jump.
