MORGANTOWN, WV.- William & Mary men's and women's swimming is competing Nov. 18-20 at the WVU Invitational in Morgantown, West Virginia this weekend to close out the fall season. Joining the Tribe in competition will be host West Virginia, Colgate, Old Dominion, St. Bonaventure, and Villanova.
Prelims will begin each day at 10:00 a.m. and finals will begin Thursday and Friday at 6:00 p.m., Saturday at 5:00 p.m. This release will be updated as times from each session are reported.
Thursday Prelims:
500 free
Elizabeth Intihar finished in fourth in the women's 500 freestyle with a 4:55.45 time.
200 individual medley
Annie Tuttle had the fifth fastest time in the prelims, finishing with a 2:04.95 in the 200 IM, while
Cole Younger also finished in fifth touching in at a 1:52.24 pace.
50 free
Missy Cundiff set a new school record swimming a blistering 21.98 time to place first in the 50 free prelims. The time qualifies her for the NCAA B cut and is the fifth fastest time in the nation this year. The 21.98 time is a CAA record by .31 seconds.
Katie Stevenson finished eighth in the prelims with a time of 23.73.
Graham Hertweck continued his impressive fall, swimming a 20.33 to top all athletes in the prelims.
Thursday Finals:
200 free relay
The Tribe A relay of Cundiff, Kenna,
Sydney Querner, and Stevenson out touched Villinova's squad by .02 seconds to take home first place in the 200 free, and the B team composed of
Corinne Davenport, Lamoureux,
Kat Vanbourgondien, and Intihar finished fifth. Hertweck,
John O'Hara,
Gavin Lamoureux, and
Kent Codding swam 1:23.49 for a fifth place time on the men's end.
500 free
Intihar turned it up a notch in the finals, swimming 4:47.76, a full four seconds faster than the competition to take gold in the 500 free.
Grace Tramack finished 10th in the event with a 5:02.63.
Owen Miller placed 13th on the men's side.
200 individual medley
In the women's 200 IM, Tuttle finished seventh with a time of 2:06.46 while
Ellie Scherer placed 10th. The men's team also had a seventh place finish as Younger touched the wall with a 1:53.52 time.
50 free
Cundiff blew away the competition in the finals swimming to a 22.23 first place finish, while Stevenson placed seventh in the event swimming 23.85. Hertweck's final time of 20.71 was good for a fifth place finish on the men's side.
400 medley relay
The women's relay team of
Anna Kenna,
Annie Tuttle,
Maura Graff, and
Katie Stevenson delivered a brisk time of 3:40.96 to earn first place in the 400 medley relay. On the men's end,
Micah Lowe, Younger,
Gavin Lamoureux, and Hertweck swam 3:21.52 to earn a third place finish.
Friday Prelims:
100 butterfly
The Tribe women took four of the top seven spots in the prelims of the 100 butterfly. Cundiff placed first with a time of 55.07 and Graff touched in at 55.99, good for third. Kenna came in sixth with a 56.45, just ahead of teammate
Sarah Rice. In the men's event, Lamoureux finished seventh with a 49.46 time and Hertweck was the tenth place finisher.
400 individual medley
Grace Tramack was the Tribe's fastest woman in the IM finishing eighth with a 4:32.37 time while Natalia Rangione and
Peyton Proffitt came in 12th and 15th respectively. On the men's side, Younger finished 12th with a 4:10.42 pace.
200 free
Stevenson set the pace for all swimmers in the 200 free, clocking in with a 1:50.07 time while Intihar finished in fourth with a 1:51.50 touch time. O'Hara had the best time on the men's end finishing 11th with a 1:42.52 mark.
100 back
Kenna was the third fastest woman in the back prelims with a 55.03 time and teammate Vanbourgondien finished in ninth while
Ellie Henry had a 14th place finish.
Aaron Tingley and
Jack Galbraith came in seventh and eighth in the prelims while Codding came in 16th in the morning session.
100 breast
The Tribe women posted four of the top eight times in the 100 breast, led by Tuttle's first place 1:01.99 mark. Sherer came in fourth at 1:04.46, While Lamoureux and Graff finished sixth and eighth respectively. Younger continued his strong weekend with a fifth place finish swimming a 57.57 on the men's side, and
Mills Harris finished in ninth with a 59.48 time.
Friday Finals:
200 medley relay
A Tribe relay of Stevenson, Tuttle, Graff, and Cundiff took first place in the medley, while Vanbourgondien, Davenport, Querner, and Sherer took fourth. On the men's side Hertweck, O'Hara, Tingley, and Lamoureux took second.
100 butterfly
400 individual medley
In the IM Tramack swam a 4:30.52 to hit fifth place while
Conor Sokolowsky swam a 4:04.52 to pace the men.
100 back
William & Mary took three of the top six places as
Annie Tuttle swam a 1:01.89 to pace the Green and Gold, while Sherer and Lamoureux took sixth and seventh respectively. Younger was the fastest man with 57.11.
100 breast
Saturday Finals:
200 back
Kenna finished fourth in the 200 back touching in at a 2:00.99 time just ahead of Henry who finished in fifth place. Lowe's 1:49.21 time was good for eighth in the men's competition.
100 free
Cundiff earned another individual victory in the 100 free swimming a brisk 49.77 and Stevenson finished third with a 50.69 time. Hertweck finished in sixth in the men's event with a time of 45.55.
1,650 free
Intihar finished second among all swimmers in the marathon event with a 16:50.79 time.
200 breast
Tuttle won another individual event swimming a 2:13.36 time to best all competitors in the 200 breast. Proffitt swam a 2:23.42 time to earn a seventh place finish. On the men's side, Younger's 2:02.77 time was good for second and
Noah Spain finished eighth.
200 butterfly
Tramack and Graff finished sixth and seventh respectively in the 200 fly on the women's side while Fields swam to a third place finish with a time of 1:50.21 on the men's end.
400 free relay
The Tribe relay team of Stevenson, Intihar, Cundiff, and Kenna swam a 3:22.59 time just behind Villanova for a second place finish in the weekend's final event while Hertweck, Codding, Parsons, and O'Hara finished in fourth place on the men's side.
