WILLIAMSBURG, Va.— The William & Mary track program finished hosting the 58
th Annual Colonial Relays on Saturday in Williamsburg, the men's team finished in second place, while the women finished third.
Bucknell swept both the men's and the women's team competitions. The Bison men held on for a five-point victory, 121-116, over the Tribe.
Megan Heidebrecht had an historic day for the Tribe in the triple jump. The senior set the program record in the event and earned a win by posting a mark of 12.23m on her fifth attempt. Her third attempt of 12.22m would have also set the record. The previous program mark of 12.12m was set in 2019 by Brianna Miller.
Action on the track saw the Tribe's 4x1,500m relay team of
Lucas Thompson,
Zack Ericksen,
Sam Pritchard and
Jacob Jones cruise to a victory. Their time of 16:04.68 gave them a nearly nine second victory in the event.
The 4x400m relay also resulted in another dominant performance for the Tribe. The quartet of
Jacob Robinson,
Jonathan Kumer,
David Seekford and
Austin Rice won by a margin of six seconds, clocking in with a time of 3:15.35.
W&M's women's relay team of
Lizzy Gregory,
Jamison Gilmore,
Makenzie Joiner and
Emily Ervin earned a runner-up finish in the women's 4x400 with a time of 3:49.85.
The Tribe's 4x200m relay team of
Brian Walsh,
Ethan Buenviaje,
Gabriel Albers and
Cole Harris posted the ninth best time in program history in the event. The quartet finished the relay in 1:30.22, clipping the time of last year's team.
Molly Coyle posted a runner-up finish in the women's edition of the 800m. Coyle crossed the line with a time of 2:15.18 on Saturday.
The Tribe is next in action at the Virginia Grand Prix in Charlottesville hosted by UVA on Friday and Saturday.
