Heidebrecht Sets Triple Jump Program Record at Virginia High-Performance

CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va.— Megan Heidebrecht's record setting performance highlighted William & Mary track & field's performance at the Virginia High-Performance meet in Charlottesville Sunday.

Heidebrecht posted 12.67m in the triple jump to earn the event win and set the top mark in program history. She jumped 12.69m earlier this month at the Virginia Grand Prix, but that does not qualify for records due to wind. The senior now owns four of the top-10 performaces in the triple jump in W&M history.

Heidebrecht kept up her stellar outdoor season for the Green and Gold by also putting up a mark of 5.91m in the long jump, good for a runner-up finish. Heidebrecht's performance on Saturday was just a hundredth of a meter off of her program record, which she had just tied last week at Wake Forest.

The men's javelin saw Chris Arias earn an event win and post a personal best in the process. Arias posted a toss of 69.98 on his sixth attempt. He is now ninth on the Tribe's performance list for the event and holds his spot of third on the performers list.

Liv Cantby started the afternoon in stellar fashion for the W&M on the women's side, posting a toss of 47.64m for a runner-up finish in the javelin. Cantby's performance on Saturday is good for the second-best performance in W&M program history. The senior also now owns all three of the top performances all-time.

Other field event action saw Josh McCormick post a personal best of 13.53m in Saturday's triple jump, while Ella Carlson's 42.55m in the shot put also was a personal best. Carlson now is the eighth best performer in program history in the shot put.

The men's long jump saw Brian Walsh and Ethan Buenviaje finish in second and third place. Walsh leaped 7.23m and Buenviaje 7.11m, with Buenviaje's effort now puts him eighth on the performers list for W&M in the event.

On the track Melissa Cunningham grabbed an event win for the Tribe in the women's 200m with a time of 24.78, winning by just less than 0.2 seconds.

Walsh grabbed second in the 110m hurdles Saturday for W&M. Crossing the line in 14.81 seconds, it serves as a personal best for Walsh who now sits sixth on the Tribe's performers list for all-time in the event.

Jacob Robinson was runner-up in the 400m with a time of 48.44 seconds, ranking the 19th best performance in program history. Jonathan Kumer posted a personal best in the same event, crossing the line in 49.90.

The Tribe is next in action on Wednesday at the Liberty Twilight Qualifier for their final event of the regular season.
