MECHANICSVILLE, Va. – William & Mary men's cross country placed fourth at the season-opening Spider Alumni Open on Saturday morning at Pole Green Park.
#10 Virginia took home the team title with 20 points followed by Georgetown, who was ranked No. 3 in the Mid-Atlantic Region in the preseason, with 59 points. The host Richmond just edged the Tribe for third, 119-121. American rounded out the top five with 124 points.
Senior
Nate Jennings and junior transfer Zach Ericksen led the way for the Tribe, placing in the top 20. Jennings covered the 6K course in 18:26.1 to finish 14th, while Ericksen was 19th at 18:34.7.
Graduate student
Jacob Jones, senior
Sam Pritchard, and sophomore
Peyton Golden rounded out the Tribe's top five runners. Jones finished 27th in a time of 18:47.1 followed by Pritchard in 32nd (18:54.0) and Golden in 51st (19:20.9)

The Tribe returns to action in two weeks, competing at the adidas XC Challenge in Raleigh, N.C., and the CNU XC Invitational in Newport News, Va. Both events will be on Friday, Sept. 15.
