Sprinters Shine at Virginia High Performance Meet

CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. – Talk about ending the regular season on a high note.

Much like they've done all spring, William & Mary's sprinters stole the spotlight in Sunday's Virginia High Performance Meet. Not only was the squad fast, many of them were historically so.

Melissa Cunningham led the way with a first-place showing in the 100m dash. Crossing the finish line in 11.97, her season's best showing is No. 3 on the Tribe's all-time performance list and marked just the third time a Green and Gold sprinter has posted a sub-12 second finish in the event.

Charlotte Robinson also ran a strong race, posting a PR of 12.58.

Then, in the 200m, four Tribe standouts finished top-6, led by Emily Ervin who captured second place with a time of 24.28. Amaya Johnson was third at 24.36, Lizzy Gregory took fourth in 24.60, and Carly Swierbut rounded out the group by running a 25.40. Ervin's time is the seventh fastest on record, giving the sophomore five of the top-10 times. Meanwhile, Johnson's finish is 10th all-time. She also now owns multiple top-10 times.

Robinson took 10th place in the event.

Lydia Wallis and Hannah Holland finished 12th and 13th.

400m Hurdles
Clare Howard posted a PR of 1:03.30, while Hope Stephens ran a 1:14.71. Howard's performance moves her into a tie for No. 9 on the Tribe's all-time performers list.
