CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. – Going a mile a minute. Or rather — going a mile in four minutes, two seconds, and change.
Wrapping up the regular season at Sunday's Virginia High Performance Meet,
Jacob Jones made a bit of William & Mary history, running a 4:02.69 to take fifth place in the mile run. It was the ninth-fastest time by a Tribe runner in the event and moves him into No. 4 on the program's all-time performers list.
And he wasn't the only one posting a strong showing on the day, either
In the 100m,
Jackson Cooley ran the sixth-fastest time in William & Mary history, crossing the finish line in 10.61. Cooley now owns four of the top-10 performances by a Tribe sprinter—all coming this season.
400m
Austin Rice finished just shy of William & Mary's freshmen record, running a PR of 48.40 and taking third place. The time is the 13
th fastest in Tribe history.
800m
Stephen Larson posted a PR of 1:51.96 to take eighth place.
400m Hurdles
Gabriel Albers ran a 57.54.
Mile
Evan Goodell was 11
th (4:12.24),
Joseph Taylor was 13
th (4:19.29),
Sam Pritchard was 15
th, and
Luke Henkel was 16
th.
Hammer Throw
Ross Bazzichi finished second at 49.0m (160-9).
Discus
Bazzichi posted a PR at 42.72m (140-2) to take fifth place in the event.
