Heilen Shatters CAA, Program Records in Day Two of WVU Invitational

MORGANTOWN, W.Va. – The William & Mary men's and women's swim teams resumed the WVU Invitational with day two of competition on Friday. Sophia Heilen highlighted the meet, setting her second program record in as many days, while breaking her own CAA record and meeting the provisional NCAA qualifying mark in the 100 Fly.

The Tribe picked up a pair of wins on the women's side in the Medley Relay and Heilen's 100 Fly after advancing 17 swimmers to finals with 19 qualifying times. Erin Langenburg and Lindsay Juhlin each qualified for finals in two events.

The men recorded 16 finals qualifying times by 13 swimmers as Kent Codding, Logan McDonald and David Yune each advanced in a pair of events.

Women's 100 Fly
Kicking off day two of the competition, five of the Tribe women recorded finals-qualifying times in the day's first event. Three swimmers earned a spot in the championship heat of the women's 100 Fly. Heilen and Juhlin earned top two seeds with 53.15 and 54.73 times, respectively, and Langenburg's 55.44 finish landed her in the top heat.

Lauren Klinefelter earned a seed in the consolation final with her time of 55.59 and freshman Flynn Truskett clocked in at 57.72 to advance to the D finals.

Finals
Heilen stunned in the finals, earning the Tribe's first win of the evening with a 52.70 time that broke her own W&M program record and CAA record (52.96), which set at the 2023 CAA Championships in February. This also marks her second NCAA provisional qualifying time of the weekend, as she made the B standard with her 200 IM swim on Thursday.

Klinefelter dropped time from her prelim swim, clocking in at 55.56 to earn points for the Tribe women. Truskett cut down her prelim time by a tenth of a second for a top-three finish in the D heat with a time of 56.37.

Men's 100 Fly
The men's team also had five finals qualifiers in the first event of the morning, opening day two the right foot. Codding posted a 49.40 time to advance to the consolation final rounds, guaranteeing points for the Tribe.

Gavin Lamoureux and McDonald each earned a seed in the bonus final, recording 50.05 and 50.12 prelim times, respectively. Yune swam with a time of 50.18 to qualify for the D final, joined by sophomore Ashton Temme, who posted a 50.52 finish.

Finals
