Men's Cross Country Places Third at CAA Championships; Four Earn All-CAA Honors

MECHANICSVILLE, Va. – William & Mary men's cross country produced four All-CAA performers in garnering third as a team at the 2023 CAA Championships on Friday afternoon at Pole Green Park.
 
Graduate student Patrick North led the way for W&M, earning All-CAA honors for the second time in his career. Freshman Hayes Trapp, junior Nate Jennings, and sophomore Peyton Golden all earned All-CAA honors for the first time in their careers. All four Tribe runner finished inside the top 15.
 
As a team, the Tribe continued its streak of placing in the top three of every CAA Cross Country Championship since 1988. Stony Brook took home the team title with 36 points followed by Northeastern (49), W&M (77), Monmouth (107), and Hofstra (140). Northeastern's Benjamin Godish won the individual CAA crown in a time of 24:06.4.
 
North paced the Tribe with a 10th-place finish in a career-best 8K time of 24:38.1. He earned All-CAA honors for the second time after previously receiving the distinction in 2021.
 
Trapp started fast, sitting in second after the opening 2K. He crossed the line in 13th just 10 seconds behind North in a season-best 8K time of 24:48.0 to earn All-CAA accolades.
 
Jennings and Golden followed closely behind in 14th and 15th place, respectively. Jennings finished in a time of 24:59.4 just ahead of Golden's season-best time of 25:00.3.
 
Senior Sam Pritchard roudned out the Tribe's top five, finishing 26th in a time of 25:41.9. Sophomore Brendan DiStefano (25:51.3), senior Harrison Vives (26:11.6), and junior Zack Ericksen (26:14.1) each placed inside the top 40 in 31st, 38th, and 39th, respectively.
 
The Tribe continues the championship season at the NCAA  Southeast Region Championships on Friday, Nov. 10. USC Upstate will host the event at the Milliken Research Center.
