SCOUTING THE SEAHAWKS
The Seahawks are the defending CAA Champions on both the men's and women's teams. The women secured their first CAA win since 2017 in 2023 and the men went back-to-back in 2022 and 2023.
To open their second-consecutive season as defending CAA Champions, the men picked up a win against the SEC's South Carolina in their first meet. The Seahawks visit Old Dominion on Friday, Oct. 13, prior to coming to W&M on Saturday.
After the first weekend of competition, Jacob Duracinsky and Gil Shaw were named CAA swimmers of the week for UNCW. Duracinsky earned a pair of individual wins for the Seahawks with a CAA-best time of 45.66 in the 100 Free and added a win in the 200 Free with a time of 1:40.69. SERIES HISTORY
The Tribe hosts the Seahawks for the first time since 2010, only facing one another in Wilmington or at a neutral site over the last 13 years.
Meeting for the first time as CAA opponents in 2002, the Tribe women lead the Seahawks 9-5 in the all-time series. The men's teams first met in 1981 and UNCW dominated the matchup in early years, working up a lead in the all-time series of 9-28, but the Tribe tallied a six-meet winning streak in recent years and have secured six victories in the previous seven meetings.
UP NEXT
The Tribe men's and women's swim teams will be at home again next weekend, at 11 a.m. on Saturday, Oct. 21, to host Towson during W&M Homecoming and Alumni Reunion weekend.
