UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. –
Keeley Suzenski added another chapter to her already-impressive William & Mary track and field career Friday, posting a weight throw PR at the Penn State National Invitational and moving into third place on the Tribe's all-time performers list in the event.
The Fleetwood, Pa. native finished 13
th at 16.81m (55-2). Her previous best, 16.53m (54-2.75), came at least season's Navy Select Meet.
Suzenski wasn't the only one posting strong performances for the Tribe, though.
Megan Heidebrecht placed fourth in the long jump at 5.71m (18-8.75), the fifth-best all-time performance by a W&M women's athlete in the event. She wasn't far off her personal best, either—5.75m (18-10.5), which she set at the 2021 Navy Invitational.
And rounding out the Green and Gold's strong Day 1 performance at PSU? Freshman
Catherine Garrison, who finished first in the 5000m with a PR of 17:16.32.
Pole Vault
Sophie Fernandez and
Olesya Sitkowski both finished as part of a six-way tie for 11
th at 3.51m (11-6.25), while
Elizabeth Upright was 17
th.
Mile
The dynamic duo of
Arianna DeBoer and
Sofia Istnick once again notched solid races, finishing 11
th and 18
th. DeBoer crossed the finish line in 4:53.08, while Istnick clocked in at 4:59.40—both PRs.
800m
Caroline Jones recorded a 24
th-place finish with a time of 2:16.48.
60m
Melissa Cunningham ran a 7.73 in the opening round, the second-fastest time in William & Mary history.
