RICHMOND, Va. – For the second time in the last three weeks, William & Mary senior
Mila Saric was named the Colonial Athletic Association Player of the Week, the league announced on Tuesday.
Saric earned the honor for the third time this season and the ninth time in her Tribe career. Overall she owns five CAA weekly awards this season, having garnered CAA Doubles Team of the Week honors as well with
Hedda Gurholt on both Feb. 16 and March 22.
Saric went 2-0 at the top singles position in leading W&M to two CAA wins on Saturday. She rallied for a three-set win over Delaware's Eliza Askarova to clinch the Tribe's 4-3 triumph over the Blue Hens. After dropping the first set, 6-2, Saric outlasted Askarova, 7-6 (0), 6-4, in the final two sets.
In the Tribe's 7-0 sweep over Towson, Saric dropped just three games in a 6-0, 6-3 win over Amelia Lawson. Saric, who is ranked No. 109 nationally, pushed her win streak to four as she notched her 22nd win overall and improved to 12-3 at No. 1.
Saric and the Tribe return home to host Richmond on Saturday, March 16, at 2 p.m.
