Tribe Sweeps Charleston, Advances to CAA Championship Match

THE CHAMPIONSHIP MATCH BETWEEN WILLIAM & MARY VS. ELON HAS BEEN MOVED INDOORS TO THE MCCORMACK-NAGELSEN TENNIS CENTER AT 2:45 PM.

WILLIAMSBURG, Va. —
William & Mary women's tennis punched its ticket to the Coastal Athletic Association Championship match with a dominant 4–0 sweep of Charleston in the semifinals on Saturday night at the Mackesy Tennis Center at the Millie West Courts.

The victory improves the Tribe to 14–6 on the season and marks its 11th consecutive appearance in the CAA Championship match. William & Mary has now reached 28 of the 31 title matches since the league adopted the head-to-head dual-match format.

The Tribe set the tone early by securing the doubles point with wins at the top two positions. The duo of Sia Chaudry and Francesca Davis rolled to a 6–2 victory at No. 1, while Alexia Gonzalez-Galino and Mira Kernagis followed with a 6–3 win at No. 2 to give William & Mary the early 1–0 lead.

In singles play, William & Mary continued its strong form, claiming three straight-set victories to clinch the match. Francesca Davis led the charge with a dominant 6–1, 6–1 win at No. 2, while Mira Kernagis added a 6–3, 6–2 decision at No. 4. Gonzalez-Galino sealed the sweep for the Tribe with a 6–0, 7–5 victory at No. 6.

William & Mary's depth has been a key throughout the season, highlighted by multiple players with double-digit dual singles wins, including Davis (16–3) and Kernagis (14–4), while the doubles tandem of Emma Pell and Yaelle Vaissaud has led the way with a 14–1 dual-match record.

With the win, the Tribe has now won two-straight matches and advances to face top-seeded Elon in the championship match on Sunday.

WHAT'S NEXT?
William & Mary will take on No. 1 seed Elon in the CAA Championship match on Sunday at 1 p.m. at the Mackesy Tennis Center at the Millie West Courts. The Phoenix defeated the Tribe, 4–3, earlier this season on April 3 in Williamsburg and have won three-straight matches in the series, including a 4–2 victory in last year's championship match.
