W&M Men's Track & Field Earn Top Three Finish Day Two of IC4A Championships

BOSTON, Mass. – The William & Mary men's track & field team concluded day two of the IC4A Championships, Saturday. Red-shirt sophomore Daniel Layton finished third overall in the men's heptathlon adding 4,814 points to the Tribe's score. With six events scored, the Green & Gold is tied for 10th overall with eight points, while UConn leads the 27-team field with 61.5 points.
 
How it happened:
Heptathlon Events (Day 2)
In the men's heptathlon 60-meter hurdles, Layton placed sixth at 8.76. The sophomore finished first overall in the pole vault with 4.06m and conclude the events after placing second in the 1,000 meters at 2:41.13.

Freshman Cole Harris placed seventh overall in the men's heptathlon contributing 4,337 to the Green & Gold team. Harris finished eighth in the 60-meter hurdles at 9.09 and fifth in the pole vault at 3.56m. The rookie rounded out the event with a personal best placing fourth in the 1,000 meters at  2:52.45.

1 Mile 
Starting it off in the mile, junior Jacob Jones finished in eighth, with an IC4A Finals qualifying time of 4:04.77.

1000
Junior Stephen Larson placed fourth in the prelims at 2:25.98, earning him a spot in the IC4A Finals.

5000
Over in the 5,000 meters, red-shirt senior Spencer Tsai  set personal best and finished 12th overall at 14:23.10.

Distance Medley
The Tribe rounded off the day in the 4x400, where the team of Owen LippsJackson CooleyAlex Loukili, and Sam Pritchard earned an IC4A Finals qualifying time of 9:59.60

Next Up: The ECAC Championships continue Sunday, starting at 9:30 a.m.
