WILLIAMSBURG, VA. - The William & Mary men's and women's swim teams will head to Maryland for a pair of meets this weekend. The Tribe will swim at Loyola on Friday at 5:00 p.m. before visiting Towson at noon on Saturday.
Friday's meet with the Greyhounds will be aired live on ESPN+.
The William & Mary women will look to keep rolling after a 189.5-71.5 win over Johns Hopkins last Saturday that saw the Tribe win 13 of 14 possible events, while the men will look to build on last week's contest that saw the Tribe take four events including the 200 medley relay.
Freshman
Sophia Heilen is the reigning CAA Swimmer of the Week after a pair of first place finishes in the butterfly events that each nearly eclipsed William & Mary dual meet records. Heilen was also the fly leg of the Tribe's 200 medley relay team that took home first place.
Katie Stevenson swept the 100 and 200 free events and also swam in the first place-finishing 200 medley and 200 free relays, while
Annie Tuttle swept the breast stroke events and
Elizabeth Intihar dominated the distance freestyles.
Conor Sokolowsky,
Kyle Demers,
John O'Hara, and
Kent Codding took home first in the 200 medley relay last Saturday.
Micah Lowe won the 100 back,
Noah Fields owned the 200 fly, and freshman
Alex Valliere earned first in the 50 free for the men.
Friday will mark the Tribe women's first meet against Loyola and the men's fourth, with the Green and Gold taking the first three contests. The Greyhound men open the weekend 4-1 in dual meets while the women enter 2-3 on the year.
The Tribe will face a much more familiar foe on Saturday as the team takes on CAA rival Towson. The Green and Gold men hold a 17-7 lead over the Tigers all time, while the women will look to replicate a 143-118 win from last October. Both Towson teams are 0-1 on the year.
