Live Results

This will be the second and final indoor meet of the regular season for the Tribe, and will also allow one more qualifying opportunity for the NCAA Indoor Championships in two weeks.  The sprints and the jumps take center stage this weekend, including senior Taylor E. Jones (Fairfax Station, Va.) competing in both the pole vault and the triple jump.  Jones cleared 3.52m (11-6.5) in the vault at Navy at the start of the month, and has an indoor best in the triple jump of 11.47m (37-7.75) set last winter.  Also in the pole vault will be the freshman duo of Olesya Sitkowski (Phoenixville, Pa.) and Elizabeth Upright (Oakton, Va.).  Sitkowski likewise cleared 3.52m at Navy in her collegiate debut, while Upright jumped 3.22m (10-6.75).  The jumps will also see redshirt-freshman Liliana Klemanski (Cicero, N.Y.) making her first appearance in the high jump for W&M, and redshirt-sophomore Claire Bailey (Fairfax, Va.) will be competing throughout the day in the pentathlon.

Two more freshmen, Chelsea Mitchell (Canton, Conn.) and Megan Heidebrecht (Amissville, Va.) will compete in the long jump.  Heidebrecht competed in the event at Navy, hitting the sand at 5.40m (17-8.75) to set a personal best, while Mitchell will be competing the event in college for the first time.  She is likely to do very well, however, as Mitchell ranked No. 3 in the nation in high school last winter with a best of 6.00m (19-8.25), 7.5 inches further than the W&M school record.  Those two will also run the 60m dash after attempting the race against Navy, and they'll be joined by Amaya Johnson (Sterling, Va.), who ran both the 60m and the 200m in that last meet, the latter with the sixth-fastest time in school history (24.85).

There is a Tribe trio entered in the 400m dash as well.  Freshmen Grace Bir (Falls Church, Va.) and Mary Gregory (Reston, Va.) will run alongside Carly Swierbut (Newtown, Conn.), the reigning freshman record holder from last winter.  Gregory and Swierbut ran the 400m at Navy, Gregory in a solid time of 57.94 seconds, while Bir ran the 500m in 1:15.84, the sixth-fastest time by a collegian this season.  One of the very few who have been faster over 500m is Bir's classmate, Makenzie Joiner (Mechanicsville, Va.), who will be running the 500m again this weekend alongside redshirt-senior Josie Landis (Pittsburgh, Pa.).  Joiner's time of 1:14.72 at Navy shattered the Tribe's freshman record, and currently ranks her third in the nation in 2021, and no one in the last month has run it faster than she did.  Capping the day off will be the 4x400m relay, with Gregory, Bir, Swierbut, Joiner, and Johnson all in the relay pool.
