Women's Tennis Drops Second Straight to Top-50 Opponent

PRINCETON, N.J. – The William & Mary women's tennis team suffered its second-straight setback and sixth overall this season to a top-50 opponent, falling at No. 49 Princeton, 6-1, on Sunday afternoon. Junior Charlotte Madson highlighted the Tribe's effort with her fourth-straight singles victories.

How It Happened
- The Tigers took the doubles point with victories at the No. 2 and No. 3 posts. After a 6-0 triumph on line three, Princeton's Nicole Kalhorn and Brianna Shvets cemented the initial point of the match, topping senior Lauren Goodman and Madson, 6-3, at No. 2.
- Shvets followed with a narrow 6-4, 6-4 win over junior Rosie Cheng at No. 2 singles to increase the Princeton lead to 2-0.
- After the Tigers' Nathalie Rodilosso edged sophomore Vitoria Okuyama, 7-6 (3), 6-3, at No. 6, Stephanie Schrage, who was an All-Ivy League pick last season, clinched the home team's team victory. She defeated junior Natalia Perry, 6-3, 6-4, at the top spot.
- Clare McKee downed Goodman, 6-3, 6-4, at No. 4.
- In a match-up of freshmen, Princeton's Grace Joyce tallied a close 7-5, 6-4 victory over Tribe rookie Mila Saric at No. 4.
- Madson rallied from a three-set win at No. 5. After dropping the opening set to Nicole Kalhorn, 6-4, the Tribe junior responded with 6-4 triumph in the second and third sets for her fourth win in a row. She evened her season ledger at 10-10, while improving to 5-3 on line five and 8-6 overall in dual-match competition.
