PHILADELPHIA, Pa. (March 10, 2019) – The William & Mary women's gymnastics team concluded its regular season road slate with a second-place finish at a tri-meet hosted by Temple on Sunday afternoon.
The host Owls claimed the team title with a 195.175 and were followed by W&M (191.525) and Centenary (191.500).
Caroline Caponi highlighted the Tribe's individual efforts by placing second in all-around with a 38.725.
Event Highlights
Vault, 48.550 – W&M posted its second-best score of the season on vault after a number of impressive efforts by Tribe gymnasts.
Samantha Sakti led the way with a 9.750, while
Erika Marr and
Taylor White both earned a 9.725, which represented a career-high for White.
Bars, 47.025 – Marr and
Evan Pakshong recorded the Tribe's top score on bars with a pair of 9.725's en route to tying for third. Marr's effort marked a season high in the event.
Beam, 48.050 –
Madison Dwyer placed third on beam by equaling her career high with a 9.800.
Floor, 47.900 –
Aaliyah Kerr led W&M on floor and tied for third with a 9.800, while Caponi nearly matched the effort with a 9.775.
Next Up
The Tribe will conclude its regular season slate when it hosts Penn at Kaplan Arena for Senior Night next Friday at 7 p.m. The meet will also mark the final home competition for W&M Head Coach
Mary Lewis, who announced in December that the 2019 campaign would be her final season leading the Tribe.
