WILLIAMSBURG, Va. – After excelling in the gym and the classroom, 14 members of the William & Mary women's gymnastics team earned Gymnastics East Conference (GEC) Scholar-Athlete Awards.
 
Those honored include: Catherine Bare, Hannah Burke, Melanie Faulkner, Madeline Frazier, Melissa Gao, Ascha Laird, Olivia Mile, Michelle Ngo, Summer Penzi, Ashley Ruedy, Sophia Summers, Brynn Vetrano, Lily Walker and Sally Wood.
 
All 14 gymnasts earned a GPA of 3.2 or high during the fall semester.
 
During the last five seasons, W&M gymnasts have earned 84 GEC Scholar-Athlete Awards.
 
W&M will vie for the GEC Championship hosted by Cornell on Saturday afternoon.
 
The Tribe will compete in the first session (noon) with Bridgeport, Southern Connecticut State and West Chester. The second session, which will get underway at 5 p.m., will feature Brown, Cornell, Penn and Yale.
