Kate Peebles Leads Women’s Gymnastics at GEC Championship

ITHACA, N.Y. – The William & Mary women's gymnastics team concluded its season with a fifth-place finish at the Gymnastics East Conference Championship hosted by Cornell on Saturday.

Penn claimed the team title with a 195.025 and was followed by Yale (194.625), Brown (194.525), Cornell (194.150), W&M (193.800), Bridgeport (192.475), Southern Connecticut State (192.350) and West Chester (192.250).

Kate Peebles highlighted the Tribe's individual efforts and earned first-team all-conference honors on bars by placing third with a career-high 9.800.

Ascha Laird also garnered all-conference honors on bars, as she earned second-team distinction by placing fourth and equaling her career high in the event (9.775).

Melissa Gao (9.700) and Jasmine Hou (9.800, career high) earned top-10 finishes on vault and beam, respectively.

Ashley Ruedy was W&M's top scorer on floor with a 9.800.  

In addition to posting the top score in Session I, W&M also recorded the best team scores on vault (48.125) and beam (48.625) during the championship meet's opening session. Additionally, the beam total was the second-highest total among the teams in both sessions.
