RALEIGH, N.C. (Feb. 22, 2019) – The William & Mary women's gymnastics team placed third at a tri-meet hosted by NC State on Friday evening.
NC State claimed the team title with a 195.350 and was followed by Western Michigan (193.675) and W&M (190.800).
Evan Pakshong highlighted the Tribe's individual performances by winning the beam title with a season-high 9.825, while
Samantha Sakti tied for second on floor with a 9.825.
Event Highlights
Vault, 48.175 –
Erika Marr led the Tribe on vault with a 9.675, while Sakti,
Katie Webber and
Taylor White all earned a 9.650.
Bars, 47.025 – Pakshong placed fourth on bars with a 9.775, while
Caroline Caponi also contributed to the team total with a 9.725.
Beam, 48.125 – Pakshong's winning score of 9.825 led W&M's beam lineup, while
Madison Dwyer also came up big with a season-high 9.725.
Floor, 47.475 – Sakti was the Tribe's top scorer on floor and tied for second overall with a 9.825. Caponi also performed well and earned a 9.725.
All-Around – Caponi was W&M's lone all-arounder and placed fifth with a 38.475.
Next Up
W&M will return to action when it hosts North Carolina at Kaplan Arena for its annual Alumnae Meet next Saturday at 3 p.m. In addition to welcoming back alums, W&M will celebrate the 20th anniversary of the program's first ECAC Championship team. The meet will also be devoted to mental health awareness and recognize #StrengthBeyondMuscles.
