The capstone event was the 5K run and walk held on Friday, Oct. 25, with 54 participants starting and finishing at Zable Stadium.  W&M freshman Tyler Lipps was the overall winnner in 15:09.15, while the top women's time was posted by Jess Derringer in 21:41.52.  Organized with large thanks to Charles (a cancer survivor himself) and Ginny Crone '83 and their family, as well as Randy '67 and Shelby Hawthorne '67, the giving campaign is spearheaded each year by a team of W&M athletes.  This year, those chairs were Alexis Brender a Brandis, Sasha Osipenko, and Lauren Graves.

The Massey Cancer Center at the Medical College of Virginia has been at the forefront of cancer research in the United States since it first opened its doors in 1974.  One of just 67 cancer centers around the nation certified by the National Cancer Institute, Massey is a vital resource for cancer research, treatment, and clinical trials, while also providing a top-flight training ground for oncologists and researchers.  The Center treats an average of nearly 14,000 patients annually, and includes more than 400 clinicians that specialize in various types of cancer.

William & Mary returns to intercollegiate competition this weekend with the Colonial Athletic Association Championships on Saturday, Nov. 2, at New Market Battlefield State Park in New Market, Va.  The W&M men have won 19 championships in a row, the second-longest active streak in the nation, and will race to reach 20 beginning at 10 a.m.  On the women's side, the Tribe is also the defending champion, winning six of the last seven championships and 23 overall, which is fourth-most all-time in NCAA Division I history.  The women's 6K will begin at 11 a.m.
