White, Sakti Earn ECAC Women's Gymnastics Weekly Awards

WILLIAMSBURG, Va. (Jan. 29, 2019) – After posting outstanding performances in the William & Mary women's gymnastics team's home opener against Towson on Saturday, a pair of Tribe standouts garnered weekly awards from the Eastern College Athletic Conference (ECAC). Junior Taylor White was selected as the Gymnast of the Week, while Samantha Sakti was chosen as the Rookie of the Week.

White garnered the league's top weekly honor for the second time of her career after placing second in all-around in the dual meet versus Towson. Her impressive score of 38.850 nearly equaled her career high (38.950).

The Chesterfield, Va., native also equaled a career high on beam (9.800), posted a season best on vault (9.650) and equaled a season high on bars (9.700).

An All-ECAC performer and NCAA Regional Qualifier last season, White's all-around average currently ranks first in the conference this year (38.850).

Sakti continued the impressive start to her freshman campaign by winning the ECAC's rookie of the week honor for the second straight week.

Following a school-record performance on floor in her collegiate debut last week, the Arcadia, Calif., native won a share of the floor title versus Towson on Saturday with a 9.850. Additionally, she placed second on beam with a career-high 9.850 and finished third on vault (9.725).

Sakti currently leads the ECAC and ranks 20th nationally on floor (9.888), while she owns the league's second-best average on vault (9.738).

After an open date this weekend, the Tribe will return to action when it competes in a quad meet hosted by George Washington on Feb. 8.
