Twice as Nice: Rosie Cheng Garners Second CAA Weekly Honor

RICHMOND, Va. – William & Mary sophomore Rosie Cheng was named the Colonial Athletic Association Women's Tennis Player of the Week for the second time in the first three weeks of the season on Wednesday. She took home her second award after clinching the Tribe's 4-3 win over Big Ten foe Maryland on Feb. 10.
 
After dropping the opening set to the Terp's Ekaterina Tour, 7-5, at the top spot, Cheng answered with resounding 6-1, 6-1 victories in the second and third sets to pull out the comeback win. It clinched the Tribe's fourth-straight win as a team and marked its second over a Power Five Conference foe this season. She notched her 10th singles win of the year and improved to 3-2 at the No. 1 position. On Feb. 7, Cheng received her first career national ranking, coming at No. 68 in the country.
 
The Tribe hits the road to take on a pair of top-40 teams and NCAA Tournament participants from last season in Oregon and Kansas. Both matches will take place in Lawrence, Kan. The Green and Gold meets the No. 24-ranked Ducks in a neutral site match on Saturday, Feb. 17, before taking on the homestanding Jayhawks, who are receiving votes in the latest national top 25, on Sunday, Feb. 18. Each tilt carries a noon start time.
