Former Women's Tennis Star Moulton-Levy Set for US Open

WILLIAMSBURG, Va. - Former William and Mary women's tennis standout Megan Moulton-Levy will compete in the United States Open, marking her fourth Grand Slam appearance of the season and seventh overall during her professional career. Moulton-Levy, who has advanced to the second round in each of the first three Grand Slam Tournaments of year, will compete with Katalin Marosi of Hungary in the 64-team main women's doubles draw.

The US Open started play on Monday, Aug. 26, and will run through Monday, Sept. 9. Moulton-Levy and Marosi will face the team of Romania's Irina-Camelia Begu and Klara Zakopalova of the Czech Republic on Wednesday, Aug. 28. The match will be the second on Court #9, where action begins at 11 a.m. The US Open is played at the USTA Billie Jean King National Tennis Center in New York.  More than 200 US Open matches will be available live via free video stream with US Open Live. The stream will have live action for six show courts including Arthur Ashe Stadium, Louis Armstrong Stadium and the Grandstand. US Open Live is only available in the United States and its territories. Select US Open matches will also be available on ESPN3 and the WatchESPN app.

Moulton-Levy and Marosi have competed together in each of the last four Women's Tennis Association (WTA) events, including a quarterfinal showing at the in New Haven on Aug. 18. The former Tribe star will be playing with her fourth different doubles partner during the Grand Slam events. She paired with Mandy Minella of Luxemburg to advance to the second round at the Australian Open, before garnering a spot in the second round at Roland Garros (the French Open) with Lauren Davis of the United States. Moulton-Levy and Shuai Zhang of China combined to advance to the second round The Championships Wimbledon in the most recent Grand Slam Tournament.

This season, Moulton-Levy earned her highest world doubles ranking at No. 50 on July 22 and is currently ranked No. 57 in the world. It marks the second straight year in which the former six-time All-American will compete in the US Open. In 2012, she teamed with fellow American Lindsay Lee-Waters, but fell in the opening round to the Williams sisters, Serena and Venus. Over her professional career, Moulton-Levy owns 10 career ITF Women's Circuit doubles titles to go along with one singles title.

One of the most decorated players in W&M and Colonial Athletic Association (CAA) history, Moulton-Levy was a two-time winner of the ITA National Arthur Ashe Jr. Award for Leadership and Sportsmanship. A four-time CAA Player of the Year, Moulton-Levy won the most combined (singles and doubles) matches in school history at 249. She still ranks second in program annals with 125 doubles wins, third in singles wins (124) and singles winning percentage (.775) along with being fifth on the doubles winning percentage list (.758). In 2007, Moulton-Levy teamed with 2009 graduate Katarina Zoricic to win the ITA National Indoor Doubles Championship and advance to the finals of the NCAA Doubles Championship.
