While the varsity runners were out at Pre-Nationals Saturday, the William and Mary women's cross country "B" runners kept the Tribe's record against unranked teams perfect with a win in the Tribe Open. The Tribe scored 33 points to beat out six regional foes, including second-place Loyola (Md.) (59 points). The Greyhounds' Jackie D'Antonio was the individual champion, running the 6K race in 21:46.2.

W&M was led on the day by redshirt-junior
Michelle Britto (Woodbridge, Va.), who ran 21:54.7 to take third overall.
Lanie Smith (Reston, Va.) was close behind, finishing fourth in 22:07.9, and freshman
Leanna Eisenman (Front Royal, Va.) took sixth with a time of 22:22.4. Classmate
Erica Amatori (Cary, N.C.) gave the Tribe four in the top-10 with her ninth-place showing of 22:49.3, and junior
Christina Lee (Sterling, Va.) wrapped up the scoring in 12th place, crossing the line in 23:01.4. Redshirt-freshmen
Carolyn Hennessey (Herndon, Va.) and
Heather Clagett (Norfolk, Va.) completed the team effort, running 29th and 20th in 23:18.8 and 23:22.8, respectively.
William and Mary is next in action in two weeks, hosting the Colonial
Athletic Association Championships for the first time since 2001. The
race will begin at 11 a.m. on October 27, at Eastern State in
Williamsburg.
