Shreveport, La. - The William and Mary women's gymnastics squad ended the team portion of its schedule at the USA Gymnastics Collegiate Championships hosted by Centenary College in Shreveport, La.
Competing in the first of two, four-team sessions, the Tribe women posted a score of 189.525, which placed them third, behind East Texas Women's College (194.375) and Centenary (192.400). The top two teams from each of the sessions advanced to the Team Championships, contested Friday evening.
Senior team co-captain
Stevie Waldman (Downingtown, Pa.) turned in the overall meet best all-around mark of 38.750, which nearly equaled her career best four-event total (38.775 set earlier this season in a tri-meet with Penn and Towson ? 3/12). Waldman's mark of 9.775 on the uneven bars was the sessions second highest overall, while her beam performance (9.825) was tied for the session's third-best mark.
Sophomores
Jennifer Stack (Enfield, Conn.) and
Alison Medeiros (Hudson, Ohio) also turned in strong performances for the College. As the pair tied for the session's fifth best bar score (9.675) while stack also placed seventh in the vault (9.650).
Senior co-captain
Tricia Long (Humble, Texas) put the finishing touches on a strong career by placing in the top 15 in three events. Long's highest finish was 11th on the beam (9.575), while she placed 12th on the uneven bars (9.550) and 15th on the floor exercise (9.650).
The individual event finals will be contested starting at 1:00 pm on Saturday afternoon.
