RICHMOND, Va. – William & Mary senior Hayes Trapp was named the CAA Men's Runner of the Week, the league announced Tuesday following the opening weekend of the season.
Trapp led the way for the Green and Gold as the Tribe captured the team title at the season-opening Spider Alumni Open on Saturday at Pole Green Park.
The senior finished runner-up overall in the 6K, crossing the line in a personal-best time of 18:19.0. Trapp paced four W&M runners inside the top eight and five among the top 12 as the Tribe edged Georgetown, 33-34, for the team title.
The victory marked W&M's first at the Spider Alumni Open since 2019 and gave head coach Adam Smith a win in his first meet leading the Tribe program.
Trapp is coming off a strong 2025 campaign in which he earned All-CAA and NCAA All-Southeast Region honors. He placed third at the CAA Championship before finishing 23rd at the NCAA Southeast Regional.
The Tribe returns to action Friday, Sept. 11, when it competes in the Virginia Invitational at the Panorama Farms Course in Charlottesville, Va.
