WILLIAMSBURG, Va. — William & Mary cross country returns to competition Friday at the Firetower Project Run in Boone, N.C.
The women's 6K is scheduled to begin at 5:15 p.m., followed by the men's 8K at 5:45 p.m. The meet will mark the Tribe's first competition in three weeks and its first races at the 8K and 6K distances this season.
The field includes host App State, College of Charleston, Daytona State College, Gardner-Webb, James Madison, Lees-McRae, Lenoir-Rhyne, Milligan, Tennessee Tech, Tusculum, UNC Asheville, Virginia Tech, William & Mary and Winthrop.
Tribe News and Notes
-Â William & Mary returns to action for the first time since competing at the Virginia Invitational on Sept. 11 at Panorama Farms. The Tribe men finished runner-up among six teams with 73 points, while the women placed fourth with 127 points.

Hayes Trapp has led the W&M men in each of the first two meets of the season. Trapp placed sixth overall at the Virginia Invitational, completing the 6K in a personal-best 17:55.2. He opened the season with a runner-up finish at the Spider Alumni Open in 18:19.0.
-Â Trapp has earned CAA Men's Runner of the Week honors following each of the Tribe's first two meets. He helped W&M win the Spider Alumni Open before leading the Tribe to its runner-up finish at the Virginia Invitational.

Alex Jordan joined Trapp inside the top 10 at the Virginia Invitational, placing ninth in 18:02.9.
Eli Phillips finished 18th with a personal-best 18:19.9, while
Nolan Yeagle added a personal best of 18:28.6 to place 22nd.

Molly Weithman has paced the W&M women in both races this season. She posted a personal-best 17:20.9 in the 5K at the Virginia Invitational to finish 13th overall, trailing only runners from North Carolina and Virginia.
-Â Weithman was named CAA Women's Co-Runner of the Week following her performance at Panorama Farms. She opened the season with a runner-up finish in the 4K at the Spider Alumni Open, helping the Tribe capture the team title.

Abby Lane was W&M's second finisher at the Virginia Invitational, placing 32nd in 18:09.6.
Caroline Sapperstein and
Veronica Znajda followed in 36th and 37th, respectively.
